Batch 1
Appearance: Pours fudge colored with a two finger tan head; good retention and a few clumps of lace
Smell: Very rustic, with toast, caramel, nut and a hint of powdered chocolate; yeasty overtones and a vague Bourbon aspect
Taste: Toast, caramel and nut flavors forward, with a hint of powdered chocolate; through the middle, the funky yeast elements add an interesting counterpoint; the Bourbon comes through in a big way in the aftertaste
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied but overly carbonated
Overall: I imagine the year this beer spent in my cellar did not do much for the mouthfeel; otherwise, it is an interesting beer but all the elements don't work together very well on my palate - tastes like an English Brown fermented with Saison yeast and aged in Bourbon
Thanks, daniels79, for the opportunity

Had on tap. Darker than the earlier batches, but from what I understand the recipe changed quite a bit. Here there is less funk, taking away from the body for me, but the smell is so rich with the addition to the nuts, dark fruits and sweet breads. The taste is again rustic and well rounded, with bigger yeast this go round. A little odd in that it feels caught between styles, but enjoyable.
