We aged our golden sour base in Tequila barrels for a month, and added blood orange, pink guava, limes, and salt. We just went crazy with this one, going for a cross between a sour beer, a margarita, and a tropical fruit smoothie.

Appearance: Pours cloudy and goldenstraw colored with a frothy white head; spotty lacing action

Smell: Lactic aromatics, with tropical tones of lime and orange; the salt and Tequila are also detectable

Taste: Lactic tones of guava and orange forward, with the lime building, through the middle; the salt bites, after the swallow, with some Tequila tones emerging, in the finish

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation; puckery

Overall: Here is a really interesting brew that mimics a Tequila shot while also bringing an AWA angle

Thanks, BEERschlitz, for the opportunity

Had on tap. So the smell is the star for me, where all of the fruits, salt, and tequila with a healthy dose of wood on the finish can all be enjoyed each sniff. The taste loses some bite with the intense acidity. Good ending funk that helps round out. Really complex with the various fruit, barrel, booze, and bitter elements, but the acidity cuts it up too much for me to really dive in

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled in 7/2017. Pours fairly hazy pale golden/yellow color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin spotty lace cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big tart/sour lemon, lime, guava, blood orange, pineapple, green apple, berry, melon, white wine, agave, honey, tequila, sea salt, hay, straw, grass, wheat, and cracker; with light notes of musty funk, pepper, white vinegar, vanilla, oak, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, fruits, salt, tequila barrels, and moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big tart/sour lemon, lime, guava, blood orange, pineapple, green apple, berry, melon, white wine, agave, honey, tequila, sea salt, hay, straw, grass, wheat, and cracker; with light notes of musty funk, pepper, white vinegar, vanilla, oak, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tartness; light yeast/oak spiciness and fruit tang on the finish. Lingering notes of tart/sour lemon, lime, guava, blood orange, pineapple, green apple, berry, melon, white wine, agave, honey, tequila, sea salt, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, pepper, light funk/vinegar, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, fruits, salt, tequila barrels, and moderate pale malt flavors; with an awesome awesome malt/tart/sourness and tangy fruit balance, with zero puckering flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from tart/sourness and carbonation. Medium-high carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth, moderately grainy/bready/acidic, and fairly crisp/tangy/tannic/saline balanced mouthfeel that is awesome. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 7.5%. Overall this a fantastic fruited sour ale! All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, fruits, salt, tequila barrels, and moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, and refreshing to drink with the modestly lactic/tangy/drying finish. They basically made a Tequila Sunrise/Margarita styled sour, and it works extremely well. Really well rounded Brett complexity and solid Lacto presence. Perfectly balanced fruits, salt, tequila barrels, and malts against the acidity. A highly enjoyable offering.
