This purple oddity was a collaboration with our good friend Andrew De Haan and Urbanrest Brewing Company. The tea lends a nice complex earthiness and a beautiful light purple color. The Galaxy and Summer hops taste like a perfect fruit cocktail of melon, passion fruit, citrus, and apricot.

The beer pours a beautiful ruby red color with minimal head and no lacing.
The smell is sour grapefruit and lemon
The taste follows with mildly sour citrus and a very unique, tea-like, earthy finish. I'm assuming that's butterfly pea flowers, but I'm not sure.
The mouthfeel is thin with minimal carbonation.
Overall a very nice, unique beer. The finish really makes is stand out.

First time having butterfly pea flowers in the beer, and if this is any indication, more folks gotta get on board. Always appreciate Speciation featuring ingredients you wouldn’t otherwise encounter. Buy it.

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, 2018 vintage. Pours slightly hazy reddish/pinkish orange/amber color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Unique color from the butterfly pea flower tea. Aromas of big tart/tangy raspberry, blueberry, strawberry, lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, citrus peel/zest, peach, pear, mango, apricot, melon, passion fruit, red/green apple, white grape/wine, green tea, hay, straw, herbal, floral, grass, wheat, cracker, and white bread; with lighter notes of peppercorn, leathery/musty/lacto funk, white wine vinegar, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/funky/acidic/spicy yeast, butterfly pea flower tea, citrus/fruity/tropical hops, and moderate pale/wheat malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big tart/tangy raspberry, blueberry, strawberry, lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, citrus peel/zest, peach, pear, mango, apricot, melon, passion fruit, red/green apple, white grape/wine, green tea, hay, straw, herbal, floral, grass, wheat, cracker, and white bread; with lighter notes of peppercorn, leathery/musty/lacto funk, white wine vinegar, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate lactic tartness, tangy tea; light herbal/floral/grassy bitterness, and yeast spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart/tangy berries, lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, citrus peel/zest, peach, pear, mango, apricot, melon, passion fruit, red/green apple, white grape/wine, green tea, hay, straw, herbal, floral, grass, wheat, cracker, white bread, light leather/funk/vinegar, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic/spicy yeast, butterfly pea flower tea, citrus/fruity/tropical hops, and moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; with an awesome malt/tang/tartness balance, and no puckering flavors after the finish. Fairly crisp/clean finishing. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering tang/tartness and carbonation. Medium-high carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy/acidic/tangy/tannic, and lightly sticky balanced mouthfeel that is fantastic. Zero warming alcohol for 5.9%. Overall this is an incredible dry hopped sour/wild ale. All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic/spicy yeast, butterfly pea flower tea, citrus/fruity/tropical hops, and moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; very smooth, refreshing, and fairly crisp/clean to drink with the modestly acidic/tangy/drying finish, not overly lactic. Amazing balance of Brett/Bacteria complexity, butterfly pea flower tea, and citrus/fruity/tropical hops; with a great pale/wheat malt backbone against acidity. Minimal residual sweetness from crisp dryness. A highly enjoyable offering, and amazing spot on style example as usual.

Appearance - Pours murky grey color with nice white head that lasts a good bit. Spotty lacing all around the glass.
Aroma - The galaxy hops stand out to me which seem odd in a sour ale. Little bit of funk, some tart lemon and some nice earthy tones.
Taste - The taste is much different than the nose lets on. Lots of tart lemon to the point of puckering, the galaxy hops still coming through strong good bit of funk as well.
Feel - Feel is smooth initially giving way quickly to a puckering tartness, great dry finish.
Overall - Another well done sour from these guys love how the pea flowers give it this beautiful color.
