Sour Wheat Ale w/ Lemon, Poppyseed & Vanilla - Our good friend Carley from Horrocks Market Tavern asked us to collaborate with them on a beer, so I took a trip there and walked around the shop with her looking for ideas. After walking by a massive stack of poppyseed we discussed why anyone would need... "wait, that would probably work well in a beer!" The rest of it fell into place pretty easily because #pastrysour.

A - Pours a hazy bright gold with a fizzy white head. The fades extremely fast leaving some very light soapy lacing.

S - Aroma is lemon, green apple and some funky yeast.

T - The taste is candied lemon, lemon peel, green apple skins, white wine and oak.

M - Medium body with medium carbonation. Crisp mouthfeel with a bone dry finish.

O - Really well done.

Clear light yellow with virtually no head. Not bad looking, but doesn't stand out visually either. Smell is faintly sour with perhaps some very subtle hints of lemon, but there's something about it that seems a bit off. Taste is interesting. I think I can actually taste the poppyseeds, which add a unique flavor to the beer. Medium feel, with a mildly tart finish. Overall, this was an interesting beer.

Poured into a tulip glass. A hazy pale yellow color. The pour produced a fleeting white head that left without a trace. Bright lemony aroma with faint wheat, vanilla, and poppyseeds. Moderately tart on the palate with a clean lemon flavor. The adjuncts were well done - not overdone and accomplishing the flavor of the dessert in mind. Medium bodied with a clean finish. Very nice.

On tap at Brewskival 2019.

Pours a pale yellow with virtually no head.

Smell is tart and citrusy with notes of lemon, candied lemon and lemon candy. Very lemony.

Taste is tart and acidic with notes of lemon, lemon candy and a hint of grass. Very refreshing.

Mouthfeel is medium, well carbonated.

Overall, a nice sour, a little bit samey, but tasty.

L - Poured from a can into a shaker pint. Pale straw yellow with almost no head,
S - Funky tart lemon.
T - Tart citrus with light biscuit and yeast.
F - Lightly carbonated with a dry finish.
O - Not bad. I was hoping for more wheat ale and less sour.
