Pouring a cellar temp 16 oz can into my snifter. The brew pours a rich cocoa brown color with a fizzy tan head of 2 cm foaming up. The foam fades to a thin surface layer that remains throughout the sampling. The aroma is lots of roasted malt almost a bit of smokey note mixed in. Not a sweeter Imp Stout based on the nose. I dont get any real hop character nor do I find the relatively high ABV to make a showing here.
First sip reveals a smooth textured body with fine tingly carbonation. The body is a little lighter than I expected from the pour and style, but is fine.
Flavor is roasted malt and some dark chocolate with again an almost charred or smokey note. Also no hop presence here and the booze is still well hidden.
The beer drinks very easy and I finish my glass quicker than anticipated based on the ABV of the beer. So be careful with this sneaky Imp Stout. Expect a lot of roast and less sweet and dark fruit character that some examples of the style put forward. A nice roasty brew for a cool December evening.

Poured from a can.
Pours a thick, black brown with a dark brown head that fades to a fine layer.
Smell and taste are lots of chocolate and roasted malt, dark sweet caramel. A bit of whiskey-like flavors too, like toasted caramel and some char smoke.
Feel is full-bodied, chewy and silky smooth. Alcohol is only slightly noticeable. Some lingering bitterness from the roasted malts and hops but not a lot of hop flavor.
Overall pretty nice! Great to sip on, take your time and let the flavors develop.
