Our Aussie friends at Balter Brewing came over from Queensland to brew a new-to-us style of beer and we are STOKED with the results! An XPA is an extra pale version of a pale ale with a higher, yet balancing bitterness, lighter malt profile and color, and a brighter hop experience. While it is a very sessionable, crushable beer at only 5.3%, it still carries a medium body & finish.

Pours a clear golden amber with ample foam in the Piraat tulip. There is not much aroma (see date!) but there's a whiff of crackers and straw. Spritzy and light on the tongue. The flavors are modest with a touch of lime peel and some cereal. Quite dry with a tangy finish. Pleasant mellow and fruity lighter style of Pale Ale. this is thoroughly drinkable and a nice use of hops in a restrained way. From the 16 oz can purchased from San Diego Wine & Beer. Dated 03/15/24.
