Half a liter in the Almhüttendorf tent and bierhall/garten at Stuttgart Frühlingsfest in late April 2023. I had low expectations for this beer but I was pleasantly surprised. This Festbier is tasty and even better with a freshly grilled rotewurst inside crusty bread.
July 2023: this has started to hit shelves in town later in the month. I guess fall starts early here in Germany just as it does in the US! Half liter bottle dated 04.24 so damn fresh. Didn’t hesitate to grab this bc I remember it fondly at Fest. But bc this isn’t vom fass at Fest, it just isn’t as good. It’s good, and properly malty/sweet, drinks well, but obviously my apartment just isn’t the same vibe as a Biergarten.

The Schwabenbräu tent proved to be a bit sedate during my 30SEP09 visit to the Cannstatter Wasen. That being said, I mosied over to the Stuttgarter Hofbräu tent. The band here was cooking, as were the frauleins. Hot Damn!!
Over the course of a couple hours I quaffed 2 liters (at 7.90EU per). Like the Schwaben Festbier, this one was also great to look at. A clear, medium golden brew topped by a frothy, off-white head. Foam sits at 1" plus for some time, and laces up the stein superbly. Nose is a bit restrained, though light bread and cracker come forth. A solid mouthfeel, with medium body and very acceptable smoothness.
Flavor has good bread here, along with some cracker and toasty malts mixing it up. Has some hop spiciness, though less than Schwaben. Quite the decent band-listening, fraulein-ogling Festbier! Prosit!!
