Imperial porter, yup, and so I poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a dark brown in the pour but stems a nice looking darker brown almost black color in body. Just a small quarter finger's worth of yellow-ed woody color-ed head softly dissolving to leave fairly small foamy concave strands of lace.
The aroma seems to kick the coconut out initially and wants to start with the milk and dark chocolate malts, somewhat powdery with a decent Euro yeasty sort of dark fruity estery character. Coconut tries to come out but honestly, doesn't so much.
The flavor yields towards a blend of sweet milk and dark chocolate malts to the Euro yeastiness with dark fruity esters. Coconut is basically the same as the aroma, super faint. Mild aftertaste of dark fruity esters, milk chocolate and Euro-like yeastiness with a sweet ash.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a certain acceptable sharpness adding to an ABV and carbonation that felt appropriate. Definitely a fairly sticky sort of feel rolling about as it moves into the finish which was somewhat powdery sweet and a touch of dryness.
Overall, a pretty nice imperial porter I'd have again.

This beer pours a completely opaque super dark brown color with a two finger, creamy mocha head.
Smell is sweet milk chocolate and toasted coconut. Not complex or overly aromatic, but solid.
Taste is the same. The coconut and chocolate are a little sweet for me personally, but not cloying. The coconut definitely comes off as natural and not the fake tanning lotion smell a lot of coconut beers have.
Feel is light side of medium, smooth and easy drinking. The 10% abv is nowhere to be found, it drinks like it's 6%.
Overall this is a solid beer. A bit too sweet for me, but well made and enjoyable. I think of there were more roastiness coming through this beer would be much more rounded out.

This one pours a very dark brown, but not quite black, with a small head and not much lacing.
This smells like slightly artificial oily coconut, a bit of mustiness, and chocolate.
The flavors here are a little strange. The coconut is a bit artificial, and not all that 'toasted.' The coconut and other flavors just feel stale, and too sweet, as there's not enough balancing roast.
This is slightly syrupy, with a normal level of carbonation.
They've made some nice beers so far, but this one was a misfire.
