Decanted from a 14.9 oz (441 ml) can into a Bells tulip/snifter glass; no explicit production information, code L2095/96.
A: Pours essentially black with walnut highlights, a no more than one finger, dark tan head that clears to not even a rim quickly and short lived, spotty lacing.
S: Aromas of chocolate, coconut, sea salt, Irish whiskey, vanilla, and molasses predominate.
T: Sweet and boozy. Flavors follow the nose with a lot of chocolate, coconut, and booziness. Certainly can envision the Oreos (the white of which, with the sea salt, is likely the source of the coconut. Bitterness solidly present but still in the background.
F: Full bodied with low carbonation.
O: I think of beers as existing in a "drinking niche." Some species survive in broad areas of consumption, others, like this are highly specialized, as say an aperitif or dessert beer. Enjoyable within those confines.
