12oz can from my brother. Near black pour, minimal ring of head fades. Boozy aroma, roasty, chocolate, licorice. The taste is sweet and roasty and strong. Chocolate, fudge, anise. Sticky and slick.

Admittedly I'm super off and not overly in the mood for a beer/no appetite but cracked this against my better intuitions knowing that probably no beer would taste great right now. My rating would probably reflect better on it in most circumstances. Having said that, its certainly unique...
Pours a bit light and thin and smell is largely muted from being straight out if the fridge. Its got some VERY unique flavors going on that im really struggling to define. Its definitely sweet and packs a lot of heat. Plum is forefront and a whole boatload of barrel. Its extremely oaky and vanilla-y. Cane sugar. Toasted marshmallow. Lots of ethanol and its harsh liquor too, like a young bottom shelf whiskey.
Feel has loads of carbonation and a drying finish. Nothing chewy about it, very soda like.
Overall - with its unique (and still undefined by me) flavors i may actually try this again. Its a strong departure from most stouts I drink and equally curious and frustrating not quite being able to hone in on it all.

Pours jet black. One-inch dark chestnut head has golden flecks and is short lived. Spotty lace and a thin viscous film form on a Swiftwater snifter.
The aroma opens with strong whiskey followed by roasted malt and dark chocolate, each in equal measure. Sweet prunes, dates, and molasses follow, leading to decadent pumpernickel. Café latte is late as it warms.
The flavors follow the aroma. Bitterness leads with balancing sweetness right behind. Roasted malt and black coffee build with warmth, as does raspberry. Whiskey is prominent, yet in measure with the other flavors. There is mild, nutty earthiness just before a long strong finish that carries a roasted bitterness and draws out alcohol fumes.
It is smooth with a medium to light body. The texture is similar to fine silk with a slick, sticky softness. Alcohol is as expected with mild heat. Carbonation is fine and prickly.
This is another excellent Stout to be enjoyed on a cold snowy evening. It is a very relaxing beer to sip and contemplate one's existence.

Amazing.
Beautiful pour and color.
Delicious mouth feel. Creamy, smooth, rich robust. No hint of high ABV.
Need to find more of this beer...
