As with all Lough Gill's Imperial Stouts, this one is black with a thin ring of fine, beige foam.
The Antiek chalice allows Irish Whiskey to be focused and obvious upon first impression. Hazelnuts are more prominent than pecans, although both are clearly expressed. Roasted malt shows up late with a nice, charred aroma. Sweet cappuccino is not to be forgotten.
The flavor prominently features charred malt before the Irish Whiskey and cappuccino show up. Pralines are featured in the sweetness, with bitterness late to catch up. The finish is long and very rich.
This one has a dense body and a slick texture with alcohol that stings the tongue. Light carbonation and lots of residual sugar tame the otherwise strong alcohol.
Chalice is a pleasant nightcap to be savored one sip at a time while the warming alcohol and cappuccino lull one into the night.
