Probably will be my last beer from the best brewery in North Dakota before it closes for good. Black color with an off-white head. Some yeast particulate pours from the can hurts an otherwise good look. Aroma of smoke and piney hops which makes for a good combination. This is an IPA but not WCIPA bitter. More dry hopped than in the mash. Can't really taste the black. I taste piney hops and smoked and pale malts. More of a campfire smoke than the meaty German malts. Solid body and carbonation for an IPA. I prefer to taste the black malt in a black IPA but still a well made brew.
