$2.99 @ Wall to Wall Wine and Spirits, Omaha, NE
Notes via stream of consciousness: A hazy deep-golden/amber colored body is capped by a massive head of off-white foam that may take some times to settle down. The aroma is malty with a little bit of an off-note that I think may be a fermentation defect. How strong is this beer? It's only 6.5% so I doubt it's from underpitching but it seems like acetaldehyde. I could be wrong. On to the taste... unfortunately it tastes like it smells BUT fortunately we know that the majority of taste is actually aroma, and prolonged exposure to specific aromas will eventually cause the brain to shut them out so I'm going to give it a big long smell and see if I can get past it. ... ... ... OK, now I'm getting more of the malt and some grassiness. The malt has some honey to it, a bit of crystalized sugar, and some grassiness. Whether that grassiness is from Pilsner malt or hops is unclear but I think it may be from the malt as I'm finding the hops more floral and spicy. Who knows? There's some apple-like fruitiness to it, and a median, firm bitterness balances it leading to a dry finish. In the mouth it's medium bodied and dextrinous, and a fine-bubbled carboantion leaves it gently crisp and then smooth across the palate. It's not the best helles bock I've ever tasted but at least it's nicely balanced and not too sweet, too bitter, or too strong.

L-Nice looking clear, rich golden color with amber highlights
S-Toasted malts up front but mild...touch of honey..
T-Pils like malt..toasted malt notes as well...some light nutty notes as well ..sweetish (almost candied) but also brings a splash of grain alcohol. Hops seems secondary which is good in my opinion for this style..
F-Good solid medium bodied...rich but not cloying...
O-Quality beer but I'd slot it below their Bock Party dark bock. This hits all the notes and is well made.
