Not sure about the “Retired” status, I picked up a pint can at the brewery when I visited recently.
This one poured into a beer glass. A golden pour with decent clarity and a nice fine foam head. As the head subsides, it hangs out on the way down and leaves random lacing.
The nose and initial flavor are dominated by caramelized sweet malt. There are toffee, caramel candy, and vanilla flavors, as well.
Fairly substantial stone fruit flavors, and a hint of grapefruit are also in the mix. The IPA hops bitterness is nice and enjoyable, and the balance with the sweetness is pretty good. Subtle pine flavor, slight carbonation tickle and hops bitterness lurks around with the booziness as it goes down.
This one is pretty easily to sip and enjoy, the nearly 10% ABV can sneak up on you though.
A great imperial IPA!

Pours a nice golden color with a thick off white head.
Smells of tropical fruit thick sticky earthy hops, and sweet malt.
A burst of tropical fruit flavor - star fruit, stone fruit - giving way to a sticky earthy hop and a sweet delicate complex malt backbone.
