This beer is similar to barley wine. An Italian dark brown lager has been barrel-aged in whisky barrels.

I greatly enjoyed this beer. It was poured from tap at the brewery into an IPA style glass.

Murky brown color with a fluffy beige head and good curtain lacing. Smell and taste of toffee, sweet apples and cinnamon. Smokey sweet and some pleasant booziness. Feel is a bit thin for the style (actually it does not claim to be a barleywine) but overall a very enjoyable beer.

Had on tap. The barrel overwhelms the base beer in all aspects. In the nose is smells of oxidized whiskey and malt. In the taste I get some brown bread and a hint of earthy barley, but they are obliterated by the dark oak, whiskey, and general oxidization. Feel is hot with booze, thinning out the body, watery even. But hey it looks ok: murky medium brown body with a tan cap.
