2020 batch. Sampled Nov 20 2020.

Dark brown to black pour with lingering tan head. Leaves lacing.

The aroma does emit a little of the Bourbon barrel character but it is mostly chocolate, vanilla, and cocoa with a vague earthy character below that.

Medium to full body.

The taste is sweet and leans toward the chocolate. It carries and warming and vague spirit finish but it is in no way overly boozy. Generally smooth.

Bottle from the source enjoyed at home.
Deep black in color with a good sized tan head that persists.
Rich roasty chocolate and bready sugary maltiness. Light bourbon and a faint tart cherry lactic note. Pretty decent stout but could have used a bit more of the barrel or bourbon to come through.

2017 Reserve Series

Pours a dark mahogany color. Some lively carbonation bubbles rise up on the pour and settles to a ring around the edge. Aromas of light roast coffee and vanilla are detected. Flavors of the roast coffee, vanilla and the bourbon makes it's presence known. Some molasses and burnt sugar also mix in with the other flavors. There is a marshmallow sweetness with a medium feel on the palate. The lower abv allows for a great drinkable stout. Overall, this is a wonderfully crafted barrel aged stout that I highly enjoyed. Well done and enjoy!
