i was very disappointed that this was the only house made beer these guys had when we visited, but its pretty good, despite my not at all wanting to drink an imperial stout of this enormous nature in the middle of a hot florida afternoon. creamy headed and nearly black, if i can see it correctly through the plastic water cup they served it to me in (which originally pissed me off but later proved to be a smart call on their part, enough said). frothy and foamy, leaving a mustache as i take a pull. its thick for sure, sturdy and heavy, but its well built, almost creamy feeling in its heaviness. the flavor is pretty solid too, dark chocolate, burnt drip coffee, faint cherry and licorice and even barrel, although i dont think this has spent any time on wood, its a product of its mash and long boil. its not even all that boozy for its strength which is nice, but its a little sweet and a little tannic, and it drinks slowly in the sunshine. light vanilla and milk chocolate here too, a pretty good offering overall, and a beer that had me wanting a lot more from these guys to be honest...
