Having this beer on tap at the brewery. Served in a standard pint glass, this beer draws a clear, medium amber/copper color with a very nice white head that’s a very solid 1/2 inch thick when drawn and served. Head eventually settles to a thick ring lining the inside of the glass with some cluster swirls of foam on the beer’s surface. Decent lacing on the inside of the glass. Aromas of some toasted caramel and bready malts along with a bit of nuttiness, a bit of dark/stone fruit, and a slight hint of earthy, piney hops. An extremely similar flavor profile, with toasted caramel and bready malt sweetness, a bit of toasted nuts, a bit of dark/stone fruit that adds a bit more sweetness, and slight earthy, piney hops that provide just a hint of bitterness. The malts, nuts, and stone fruit certainly dominate the flavor profile, and that’s as it should be for a beer of this style. Has a crisp, smooth, ever so slightly chewy, just slightly gritty, medium bodied mouth feel with moderate carbonation. All of the flavors linger very nicely on my palate for a long time in the aftertaste. This beer is a very nice take on this style.
