Look:
Pours a very dark, almost black, shade of deep brown with a one finger, light beige head of rocky foam. Below average head retention. Almost no lacing left over on the glass.
Aroma:
Pie crust, toasted marshmallow, peanut brittle and dark chocolate.
Taste:
Light roasted malt notes throughout, with solid burnt, toasted flavors that aren't overly bitter or astringent. I'm getting light flavors of coffee cake, praline cookies and roasted peanuts with bittersweet dark chocolate and chocolate fudgesicle notes.
Feel:
Smooth to the palate, mid-light body with a very refreshing mouthfeel that provides an excellent backdrop for the lightly bitter chocolaty flavors to work upon.
Overall:
Nice little schwarzbier or as they're calling it a "black lager". This is an easy sipper with light toasted notes of chocolate malt and roasted nuts that is very light bodied and easy to put down and session.
