16 ounce can - $4.99 at Hop City Craft Beer & Wine in Atlanta, Georgia.
Appearance: Pours a rich test sample-hued yellow, minimally hazy, with a smallish, straying, white head.
Smell: Sourish, tangy and twangy supported by aromas brought to us, most likely, by the fine folks at Oregon Fruit, with citrusy, tropical tones. Vein of alcohol wafting up, that, with the fruitiness, evokes tones of wine. Sorta.
Taste: Pink guava, then, for me, at least, the pineapple and tangerine following swiftly hand-in-hand. Lightly wheat-hinted. Fairly tart, citric with a little snap from the alcohol that holds well, well beyond the finish. You depart from the light, bright and refreshing nature of a cracklingly good sour, instead stumbling through an unneeded coarseness. Perhaps the convivial nature of one's own well-earned anniversary warranted nearly doubling up on the alcohol.
Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium-plus carbonation.
Overall: I try to be good about looking these things over. Really, I do. You know, give a check for the BB/packaging dating on the bottom, maybe a cursory glance at today's latest adjuncts. But, it wasn't until I opened this that I noticed, geez, 7.3%? I'm still diligently waiting to have an amped up kettle sour that had benefited or was duly enhanced by the presence of added hooch. Any minute now.
