Each year we set aside a very special beer made from a gold medal winning recipe to be released on Black Friday. This big imperial stout has rested in Widow Jane Applewood Rye barrels since before last year's release. Expect a full body with complex wood, vanilla, and molasses notes drawn from the barrel. Contains Lactose.

From a 12oz tall boy can. Canned on 11/12/24

This beer looks like syrup while pouring pitch black into the glass. The head is insane looking while it tried to push through the beer to form. 2 finger brown colored head with tiny bubbles. The head retention is crazy long with just amazing looking lacing on the glass as it dissipates.
Aroma does seem light to me, and I've warmed this beer up for a half hour in the can. I do get malts off it. I do get faint caramel, toffee, and chocolate notes. The nose does have some barrel notes with oak and bourbon.
The flavor does also seem on the light size for the style, however, what I do get is tasty. I get chocolate, caramel, and toffee notes up front. The finish goes toward the bourbon influence with oak, bourbon and vanilla.
The body is very full and smooth feeling. There's a slight warming feeling on the back from the bourbon and ABV.
This is a good beer, but I think it could have been even better.
