Pours a hazy, orange coloration with a small, fizzy head. Smells of light biscuity malt and quite juicy tropical and lighter citrus hops, with notes of passion fruit, grapefruit and just a hint of herbal dankness. Taste follows the nose, with a good
balance of light biscuity malt and vibrant, juicy tropical and lighter citrus hops, with strong passion fruit and lighter mango and grapefruit notes, as well as a good herbal dankness. Finishes with a light/medium bitterness and some passion fruit and herbal dankness lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a light/medium body and medium carbonation.
I dunno, I kinda feel like FrauGruber's offerings have really gone downhill ever since they upped their production volume and started using their own malted barley recently. While still good, the last couple of beers I had from them were kind of a shadow of what they used to put out and this is no different. All of their recent brews just seem to really lack in body and mouthfeel, feeling thin and also showing a noticeably worse head and retention. Nevertheless this shows off the Strata hops rather beautifully, with juicy and vibrant passion fruit notes and a distinct, herbal dankness.
