Pours a hazy, orange coloration with a medium, fluffy head. Smells of light biscuity malt and resinous, citrus hops, with notes of grapefruit and pine. Taste is an excellent balance of light biscuity malt and fruity, resinous, herbal, earthy hops, with citrus notes of grapefruit and tangerine, as well as some pine, alpine herbs and dirt. Finishes with a medium/strong bitterness and some grapefruit, pine and herbal accents lingering in the aftertaste. Soft mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
If the Untappd rating is anything to go by, this is just too bitter, herbal and resinous for the German haze boys to handle, but personally I loved it. A NEIPA with old-school C-Hops? Brilliant, I wish more breweries would do this, as it's pretty much the culmination of that New England / West Coast mix that I've always been a huge fan of. Maybe this is taking things just a little too far, but I don't really mind that at all and I wouldn't be sure if this can even be called a NEIPA anymore if it wasn't for the haze and soft mouthfeel, with very little malt backbone as well. One of my favorites from FrauGruber for a while.
