Cold IPA with Strata, Simcoe and HBC 586 hops.
What is a Cold IPA you might ask? It’s an IPA that uses a lager yeast and fermented at higher “ale like” temperatures to highlight the hops and make it crispier, cleaner, and utterly crushable!
Not an IPL, or a Brut IPA, or a dry hopped Lager, but in a class of it’s own. Some have even called it the “antithesis” to a hazy!

Pours a slightly cloudy, golden coloration with a medium, fluffy head. Smells of doughy, biscuity malt and citrus, tropical hops, with notes of grapefruit and passion fruit, with some dank accents also coming through. Taste is a great balance of doughy, biscuity malt and fruity, dank, slightly grassy and herbal hops, with citrus and tropical notes of grapefruit, passion fruit guava and lychee, as well as some grassy weed also coming through. Finishes with a medium/strong bitterness and some grapefruit, guava and dank weed lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
While I'm pretty sure that the "Cold IPA" will go the way of the "Brut IPA", not because of the similar flavor profile but rather because of the fad nature, I rather enjoyed this and wish they would be here to stay, just like I did with Brut IPA. This makes for quite a crisp, bitter and refreshing drinking experience with some fruity accents of citrus and tropical and dank highlights of grassy, herbal weed. Something different from the endless NEIPAs and a rather pleasant drinking experience in my opinion. More of this, please!
