Poured on draft at the brewery, Vinton, VA.
Pours a nice dark rust hued amber, opaque and with a quickly dissipating head. Poured cold, no residual lace at all.
Aromas of sweet, dark fruit, oak, booze, and caramel. Well balanced, and with about 6 months in the Barrel it’s done some really nice things to the complexity of the nose.
Boozy oak barrel up front combatting some bitter malt and a subtle sweet caramel balance. Some esters on the backend that aren’t superb, but overall it’s got a nice complexity of Barrel, malt, dark fruit, and caramel.
Fairly thin, with a sharper-than-expected carb but a slightly sticky finish and a nice boozy warmth on the back end.
