Appearance - Pours near black, cola brown edging with light tan, finger width head that dies in fair time, leaving behind a mostly barren surface with a razor thin line of suds around the edge of the glass. No lacing, but none expected all things considered.
Smell - Fair aroma, with mild notes of chocolate, raspberry and low, level roast undertone.
Taste - Follows the nose. The flavor profile is a fair amount of chocolate, raspberry and a low but steady roasted malt character. Doesn't change much from start to finish, but it;s solid all the same.
Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied with fair carbonation. Smooth, easy drinker with a slightly dry finish.
Overall - Really solid chocolate raspberry stout that doesn't kill it, per say, but also doesn't go overboard and become a cloying mess. It's nice if you aren't expecting too much. Maybe something I'd buy in the fall and winter.
