Creamy dry Irish stout that is light on body, rich in the taste served only in the Utepils Fernweh Taproom on nitrogen as a “house” beer.
Name in honor of Theodore Wirth who early in the 1900’s was superintendent of the Minneapolis Park system. His vision and drive to set aside a large, varied and connected areas proved totally worth it as Mpls has one of the best city park systems in the world with renowned access to the public. The greatest park in the system is named after him and is our neighbor…it’s our “home” park.

Very good stout in the taproom on a hot summer day.

Nitro pour at the brewery. A nice clean, classic Irish stout. They are capable of brewing more than German style beer. Nice roasted malt flavor. The nitro of course adds body and a creaminess that otherwise a light beer would not possess.

On tap at Can Can Wonderland. Poured an opaque, jet black color with a large, off-white head of foam. It smelled of toffee and chocolate. Chocolate, toffee and mild coffee roast. Flavors were fairly muted.

L: bright, dark brown liquid fills the glass nearly to the top, leaving room for a 1/2" foam cap with a very fine bead and good retention
S: a slight roast grain smell with faint coffee and chocolate in the background.
T: flavors are rich coffee with chocolate in the background, emerging more in the after taste. It is slightly sweet. There is also a thread of grain.
F: medium bodied beer with a very smooth, creamy texture
O: a good solid session beer but is a little sweet
