I'm trying this at the brewery. It poured a nearly opaque dark with ercu head that is leaving a spotty. The scent had hints of anise and earth. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with roast start and a bitter fruit finish that gives me a slight black licorice flare. The mouthfeel is lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it's a decent beer.

On tap, fresh and dark presentation, good aroma and flavor with easy drinkability one of their better beers on tap.
11/9/2017: Growler
Poured from growler into a custom shaped grip style glass: color is black, amber edges, head is tan with fine to small bubbles and presents about 1/2 inch thick; head lingers well with solid top and great lacing.
Smell is very light roast, hint of cocoa, then some smoky like roastiness, earthy hops.
Taste at first is sweeter malt, hint of roast, and then some subtle fruitiness, more neutral hops as the fruitiness is more grape-like.
Mouthfeel is moderate with crisper fermentation and moderate carbonation.
Overall a good porter with maybe a more old style flavor profile with a subtle fruity flavor and good roasty aroma.
