Nitro-draught at the brewery.
"Nitro Dry Irish Stout." 4.60% ABV
Rather pale for an Irish Stout, looking more like a dark amber (and, to be clear, not the ruby-that-looks-black of an Irish stout like Guinness). At least it has a creamy head, owed in large part to the nitro pour.
Silky smooth, light-bodied, soft, luscious, wet, and not unrefreshing. Nitro has served it well even if it does feel a bit thin and lacks body.
A scintilla of roasted barley is buried in the second act beneath a veneer of slick creaminess. Shallow hints of chocolate specialty malt appear, but it's dark malt/black patent malt sweetness that lends this most of its scant flavour. Decently balanced albeit simple.
It's a serviceable attempt at a Guinness clone...the beer a brewer reluctantly churns out to keep that guy who keeps coming into the taproom asking for "something close to Guinness" happy so you can focus on making more interesting fare you actually care about. And I like it for what it is; damn if it isn't drinkable.
