Originally reviewed March 1, 2005. On tap at the brewpub. Murky brown with thin white head, fully diminished. Broken sheets of lacing. Stale chocolate and cigarette aroma. Warm and thin. Tastes like fresh pretzels (not a good thing). Lacks depth. Very mediocre. Palate maintains, with a velvety smoothness.

Positives: Great aroma of sweet chocolate. It almost smells like a hershey bar was diluted and mixed in with the finished beer. Also a decent enough flavor...chocolate is evident but not as heavy on the nose..
Negatives: Very light bodied and watery....I realize this is a brown ale and not a porter but I expected a little more weight to it....very very watery..
Overall: Worth trying if in the area...better than most of their beers.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
