Poured on-tap at the brewpub
A. Pours a dark black, minimal head that fell to a small white ring, slight lacing.
S. Semlls of rich bourbon, coco and milk chocolate.
T. Tastes of chocolate, right smooth bourbon, sweet raspberries, very smooth, like it has been aged for a few years. Not hot at all. Some fruit hints.
M. Medium thin body, almost no carbonation, mildly chewy and large. Wet feeling.
O. A nice beer. Really thin for a BA stout, but lots of bold flavors. Interesting fruit sweetness that normally seems to disappear with BA beers. It adds a nice layer to it. Again, the thin body is the only thing to stop me from loving this beer. It hurts it a lot.

Thanks again Lori.
A - Dark brown, nearing really dark brown. The head is a medium to dark tan and fades after a minute or three. Nice lacing too folks.
S - Caramel and molasses topping an alcohol and malt base.
T - Mild dark chocolate under heavy malt and medium coffee with a perfect hop.
M - Smooth to start with a nice slightly coarse middle and a bitter finish.
~ This is a great brew. One of the best Belgian dark beers I've had the pleasure to enjoy. Thanks to my good friend, lkarau.

Originally reviewed May 8, 2005. On tap at the brewpub. Deep brown black pour, with ruby brown glimt. Topped with thin white light tan head. Aroma is a mix of sweet caramel and toasted nuts. Flavors are heavily dominated by caramel and light hops. Finish is sugary and oily. Seemed a little watery and thin for the style.
