One of the seasonals going right now....described by the bartender as a double pale ale...twice the malt and hops of the derailed ale....not sure if that makes it a IPA/DIPA or what. I just made it simple and went with the pale ale classification.
Growler didn't travel well....lost a lot of carbonation in a day and this now has a flat feel to it. I will look past that though and not penalize for the growler not traveling well.
A-Pours a muddy orange/brown. No head. At the bottom of the growler there was a sludgey brown substance...never seen that before
S-very strong caramel aroma that is very nice along with some fresh, sweet citrus fruit hoppiness...also some home brew qualities
T-Not as good as the nose. The hops seem to take control of things here with some flavorful freshly sliced pinneaple note...also a a piney aroma...the caramel malt blends in nicely but the longer I drink this the more apparent it is that this is average tasting...not bad...not great....average..
M-Sticky texture...medium to full bodied...
D-Thought it was better at the brewery.... Definitely worth a pint at the brewery. but I wouldn't buy a full growler again.
