I first tried this on tap, and thought it was so good, I had to get a growler of it, even though it was pricier. This is one of those rare FANTASTIC beers at Thirsty Pagan that draw you back.

Appearance - This poured with a huge head, which quickly settled, leaving nice lacing. There was a dark, caramel colored appearance that was also clear.

Smell - Hop aroma dominates.

Taste - It's pretty easy to classify the taste as complex. One of my friends thought there was a dominant anise flavor, while my wife thought it tasted like a nut brown. Funny enough, I didn't notice either of these flavors. To me this was very similar to a Sierra Nevada Celebration ale. There is a wonderful hop flavor that carries through, but it also comes off fruitier than most hops. The malt also comes through nicely, not dominated by the hops.

Mouthfeel - The carbonation is about perfect for me. About the perfect body also for the style.

Drinkability - At 11%, this could be classified as "too drinkable" since it went down super easy. Your first glass of this will go down fast and knock you on your butt.

Great Holiday beer. Perfect for hop enthusiasts.l

In an effort to share and spread the knowledge of beer the following review was completed by Lori Karau, Krista Krenz, and myself.

Appearance - Dark carmely brown body with very little head. It has a hazy malt look to it with wispy dragon-like features floating at the surface.

Smell - Hoppy citrus aroma.

Taste - It starts out carmely and moves to a bittersweet dark chocolate taste. It has a hint of coffee in the finish and hops are prevalent throughout.

Mouthfeel - Smooth, "an orgasm in a glass" as said by Ms. Karau. It is very easy to drink, almost too easy. The finish is dry.

~ Drinkability is solid. We all agreed this is an easy brew to put back. We actually sat and talked about this beer and the fine Superior, Wisconsin brewery for at least an hour. It was an excellent time with good friends...Great friends.
