Good looking brown color...you can smell the cocoa aroma eminating from this immediately after the initial pour...sweet chocolate smell with a very small java aroma mixed in...also some minor caramel elements..

Body is on the light side of medium...a little too charged up for my liking for a porter..

Chocolate, cocoa, chocolate, and cocoa on the taste...just a little hit of caramel but big on the chocolate flavors..

I find this pretty enjoyable...I'd easily purchase a couple sixers of this every winter if it was available by me...if they lightened up on the carbonation and added a bit more weight to it this would be a hell of a beer if you like cocoa...

Should probably be called a Chocolate Porter....it would probably sell better too with that name..

Clear, dark mahogany. Thin light brown head leaves sporadic lace. Aroma is full of dry cocoa powder. Chocolate-banana tones. A little bit of the roasted malts on the nose too. Cocoa is heavy on the palate too. But after that, there's really not a lot of depth to this beer. A little roasted bitterness. Dry finish. Very slightly astringent. Body is about light-medium and the mouthfeel is a bit too carbonated.

Twilight rust topped with a huge beige puff that dwindles leasurely.
Smoky nose. Roast and charcoal, a bit of vacancy and some mineral/metal notes.
Things start out rather roasty. Very stout like in flavor (but not in texture). Fades to bitter chocolate. Peeks of caramel sweetness, waaaay, way back. It doesn't do much from here on out. Turns a bit harsh, with essence of charcoal coupled with rusty iron and hard water. Hopping is sufficently bitter, but insignificant in flavor. Lightly vegetal, if anything.
Light bodied, and free-flowing down the tube.
Not much of a winter treat, however.
Average porter, at best.
