After reading cokes review, I expected a better looking beer, perhaps it does not travel well?

This beer poured a murky brown with a soda pop fizzy head that disapeared almost before the entire bottle was poured in the glass.

The aroma is a nice blend of toasted and roasted malts, leaving a slightly burnt spicy finish.

The taste is also a very pleasing blend of malty sweetness balanced with the roasted malt bitterness and nutty flavor. But the body seemed a bit weak and over-gassed for the style.

I am not a big fan of brown ales, and while this beer has its merits it is not something I would go out of my way to find.

Pours an entrancing, glowing scarlet. Impressive beige head builds up and lasts.
Toasty malt aroma with hints of hard water.
Very stout-like initially. Has a full-bodied toasty and roasty malt presence. Large hints of java and chocolate. Remains roasted, and settles into a delicate nuttiness with some faint carmel sweetness. Toffeed peanuts? Just a touch of spicy hops in the finish.
Very smooth and sliky in the mouth. Decent carbonation keeps things from getting too thick.
A nice, robust brown ale. Good Oktoberfest change-up.
