Had one the other day poured into a tulip.
Today's is in a stemless wine glass (let's just say this is for science.)
The appearance was a bronzed golden chill haze color with a finger and a half's worth of white foamy head. Moderate dissipation that left some small clingy rings of lace.
Today, I must admit this opened up way more than the first time I had it, I'm not sure if it's the choice of glassware or that I let this age about a week longer than when I first had it. Lots more pineapple chunky sweetness definitely coming out through some tangerine pulp and lemon rind.
The flavor seems way more controlled now that I let it sit a bit longer, it's balanced so well now from bitter to sweet that I probably truly should refer to this as a 'bittersweet pineapple to tangerine character gracefully meshing all of the way into each other.' Very nice aftertaste of sweet pineapple chunks and tangerines along with some citrus peel.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fine sipping quality about it. Nice carbonation to it, almost low but somewhat substantial adding a bit of "oomph" that maybe isn't entirely expected. Finishes semi-crisp with a touch of stickiness.
Overall, I liked this way more today and makes me wonder that certain IPA's need to age just a tad before thoroughly enjoying after all. Science is weird at times.
