Hopped with the timeless combination of Centennial and Cascade, this Resilience series passion project honors the legacy of visionaries like Ken Grossman of Sierra Nevada. Whilom (meaning “erstwhile, what once was”) pours a light copper color with a slightly off-white head and features aromas of orange zest, lemon and grapefruit. Light pine and earthiness yield to a restrained bitterness and dry finish. Highly drinkable, simple and balanced, it features both pale and crystal malts.

Review # 2200
Canned 04/07/22
Opened and reviewed on 6/10/22
Looks: West Coast classic look of copper and amber colors. Chunky and solid white foam cap. holds tight and strong.
Nose: Sour husky earthiness from the classic two big C hops: Cascade and Centennial. Pine, malty musk and sharp fruits.
Feel & Flavor: A sharp and crispy pine tree sap and tangy fruity flavor hits first. Husky amber malted grains are both spicy and tangy. Medium crispy body with a dry earth, bitter hop bite in the finish.
Overall: pretty much exactly what you'd expect from the style, from East to West with love.

Pours a clear amber before the chill haze and humid air clouds things up. A nice, tight foam graces the top of the beer with a color of just starting to yellow newspaper. The nose is light to start out. There all allusions to toasted bread, honey, and light sweet pine. Taste brings a sweet toasted malt riding a nice medium body with soft carbonation. A little citrus, which might be bringing or adding to the sweet side just a tad, graces the sides of my tongue. Pine rolls through with some wood and then green needles as flows over my palate. On the bitter side of a pretty balanced beer.

Can. Beautiful mostly CLEAR bright copper with slight chill haze and dense lasting head with some lace. Light grainy woody piney aroma with only a hint of citrus. Medium peach brown sugar cereal sweetness with medium piney long bitterness. Medium-light body lively carb bites with the pine in a fairly pleasant way.

From a 16 oz. can stamped 02254-1341. Sampled Aug 22, 2021.
This has a copper appearance with a modest, lasting off-white colored head and good clarity. Pales Ales should look something like this.
Vague aromas of caramel, toffee, barley grains, and a slightly boisterous pine sensation.
The mouthfeel is into the medium range and it is smooth and somewhat soft.
The sweet caramel and toffee malts are first up in the flavor but the pine hops take over and leave a delightful lingering finish. A nice hopped up pale ale.

Pours a clear dark gold/amber. Thick white head that stays for the party. Smell is piney and earth with some lemon and hop as well. Taste is bitter with some lemon zest and pine. Some bread and sweet malt comes through but not shining. Feel is crisp and clean, refreshing. Will buy more Resilience because of this beer.

Can from the Packie
Pours a deep gold color with a decent sized bubbly white head that persists. Bready caramel and bit old school in feel with plenty of citrus tropical and earthy pine to counter. Nice.

Pours a large frothy creamy almost 2 finger head with great retention and fair lacing, clear honey blond color
Nose brings bright hops, floral grassy, citrus and stone fruit, light sweet malt, hint zest
Taste fresh hops again, mild sweet pale malt, hops bring citrus zest, little stone fruit, floral and grassy, med bitterness ramping to spicy hop med high bitterness on the drier finish, nice bitter bite
Mouth is med bod, med to a bit lighter foamy carb
Overall pretty good, these days it's hard to get a real west coast style but this has it, especially the bitter finish
