Like a chocolate milkshake without the straw! Chocolate and coffee notes, and almost chewy thanks to the addition of lactose and flaked oats. This is our most decorated beer with three consecutive GABF® Gold medals as well as a Bronze World Beer Cup®.

Undated, poured from a 12-oz. can into a Samuel Adams Perfect Pint glass.
Appearance: Dark chocolate brown, one-inch head that disappears quickly, very little lacing.
Nose: A little chocolate, a little coffee.
Mouthfeel: Medium heavy, some carbonation.
Attack: Follows the nose: Some coffee, chocolate milk, but the lactose is not at all overwhelming.
Finish: The hops come through to balance the attack with a little bitterness.
Overall: I liked it better on tap at the brewery (of course!), though I didn’t review it there, but I can still taste why this has been an award winner. I probably like Wolf’s Ridge Night Method just a bit better, but I’ll buy this again — especially on tap at the brewery.

I'm trying this off the tapper at the brewery as part of a five sample flight. It poured an opaque dark with ecru head that is not leaving much lace. The scent had hints of chocolate and roast. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with good chocolate and subtle roast presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a great beer.

A: The beer is jet black in color. It poured with a finger high tan head that quickly settled down, leaving a narrow collar around the
S: Light to moderate aromas of milk chocolate are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has a bit stronger flavors of milk chocolate.
M: It feels light-bodied and airy on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is a lot lighter in body compared to other stouts but in this respect it is especially wasy to drink. I enjoyed the airy and fluffy mouthfeel.

12 ounce can, 030121 stamped on the bottom side of the can, assuming that's the canning date. Nice to see their brews available in Columbus now! Served in a Spiegelau Stout glass, the beer pours dark brown/black with an inch or so frothy tan head that stuck around a while. Good amount of lacing. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like burnt/charred malt, cream and bittersweet chocolate. For the most part I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of some coffee and a bit of nutty flavors. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's a bit slick and creamy with a moderate amount of carbonation. I thought this was a good overall milk stout. Definitely worth picking up! $11.99 a 6-pack.

From the growler via Growler Stop in Newtown, and enjoyed in
a snifter. This solid milk stout pours a dark blackish brown with a nice
head of tan foam that settles to a thick ring, thin clumping layer, and
shows some nice light lacing. Nose of dark chocolate, cream, and
dark roasted malts. Flavors exceed with a very nice presentation
of dark semisweet bakers chocolate, cream, moderate char,
nice roasted malts, touches of nutty malts, and hints of coffee.
Nice mouth feel; medium full body, light carbonation that is
subtly prickly, and a nice roasted chocolate and cream malt
finish.
Overall----a first for me from this brewery, and hopefully not the
last!
Solid!
Cheers
