Appearance: Arrives with a somewhat opaque fudge color and capped by a finger of ecru foam; excellent lacing
Smell: Roasty and almost burnt with a chocolate and dark fruit aspect
Taste: Roasted tones, up front, with the chocolate and dried plum flavors developing; earthy bitterness, which appears through the middle complements the sweeter tones
Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with moderate carbonation
Overall: A solid take on the style though a bit too roasty for my palate

a very tasty and well made baltic porter, the first beer i have ever had from these guys. it doesnt immediate taste lagered to me, which i thought was a requisite process for a true baltic porter, but i have been encountering more and more of them that arent, so maybe i have been wrong on that all this time? in any event, it seems built about like a russian imperial stout, super dark and roasty on the grain front, almost charred tasting to me, with heavy coffee and tobacco suggestions, lots of bitterness all the way though, and a rather pleasant english yeast breadiness to it. very european and old school tasting, super dark roasted, and with lots of smooth frothy body. we get dark chocolate and faint dried fruit, subtle permanent marker (in a good way), and a burnt sugar element before the warming alcohol creeps in. this is a really interesting and well made beer, in a style i would like to see more of from american craft breweries. this one is really sturdy, a good one for fall pumpkin carving season!

Pours jet black, light tan lacing for a head.
Smells of brown sugar, mesquite, coffee, and toasted bread malt.
Flavor is of brown sugar, toast, mesquite, roasted coffee, and a dry woody finish.
Full body with tingly carbonation on the roof of the mouth.
Solid strong porter, good roasted and burnt flavors. Drinks smooth. Definitely worth a try.
