A 330ml bottle with a BB of March 2017. Picked up recently from the York Beer & Wine shop (soon to close). The label describes it as a golden session bitter.
A: Poured into a tulip. Bottle conditioned. A bright golden hue with chunky floating sediment and low carbonation. Forms a smallish head of white foam that collapses and dissipates rapidly. Unappealing.
S: Aroma of light malt with hints of stewed leaves, vague grain and ale yeast. Seems faintly oxidised.
T: Tastes of light, grainy malt with notes of stewed hops, ale yeast and an acrid, unpleasant bitterness upon swallowing. Not great.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with light carbonation on the palate. Aftertaste of yeast and harsh stewed hops.
O: Meh - no great shakes. Lacklustre looks and weak aroma/flavour marred by off-notes. Average body. It might just be a bad bottle but I can't tell. Not brilliant.
