Bottled picked up a few days ago at the brewery.
Dark murky pond-water brown color, big fluffy rich head though, nice lacing.
Nose brings lots of bacteria sour funk, sour mash malt, souring funky pedio and creamy lacto... I think, and a little Brett maybe, a touch yeasty but fair earthy sourness with sour funk and no barnyard funk, plenty of fruit, a little juicy plum, some berry like a sour blackberry, a bit of toasted and vanilla oak rounding, some acidity as well, then I start to get a cheesy earthy Brett barnyard funk as it warms and the right angle of the nose.
Taste starts with a bit of sourness, a lot less than I expected, it has more of a toasted brown lager, obvious lager flavors and a little minerality, caramel toffee like toasted brown malt notes, into a mild plum note and faint berry again, but some earthy faint spicy hops in there, I get a definite German style schwarzbier in the middle. A little toasted oak barrel and wood esters, a touch of vanilla. Some earthy cheesy barnyard Brett but not much, a little souring bacteria but again not much, mild acidity. A bit of a sticky flemmy acidic finish, not much sourness, more lingering schwarzbier flavors and a hint of fruit.
Mouth is med to lighter bod, a little creamy sourness and flemmy, mild acidity, decent carb.
Overall, the nose started quite nice, but the flavor lacked most of the good components from the nose, I think they started with the wrong beer, surprised how much the base brown lager came through especially since the nose was so good, maybe the hops preserved it somewhat, not sure, their hops were way too fresh and maybe they need the cheesy stale old hops of typical lambics, and tone down the malt profile a lot, hard to tell.

Beer: Slanting Lights by Springdale, 5.2% ABV, oak aged beer with Plums
Appearance: Thick tan creamy looking head, lots of lacing. The beer is a muddy brownish color, very cloudy. 4
Aroma-vinegar,light plums, a touch of malt. 4
Taste: It is a very mild and clean tasting beer. Has a nice mild bitterness, very little funkiness, and very little plum. The sour reminds me of a blend of citrus acidity and vinegar. 3.75
Feel: Creamy head and prickly carbonation balance each other very nicely. 4.5
Overall: An enjoyable beer, but could use a little more complexity, would not have minded a little more plum flavor and aroma as well. I did not get any barrel characteristics. 4
