Glass into Nucleated Tulip
Look: Hazy bright red, pouring a 1/2 finger head which dissipated into a thin sheet
Smell: Strong citric acid, hint of wood tannins and musty yeast, and raspberry/blackberry freshness
Taste: Moderate tartness, hint alcohol here and musty yeast with tannic background note. Fresh berry at the end and light doughy malt
Feel: Light-med body, moderate carbonation, crisp
Overall: Really great beer, everything is there. Super refreshing brew

Batch 2

Alright, yet another Springdale Wild Ale, and my second sour ever (and within a week) having a beer with boysenberry. I expect this one to be even better given Springdale’s Wild Ale track record. Let’s pop it open and see what’s up

Pours an opaque deep purple with 2 fingers of light pink head that slowly fades to a thin cap and leaves minimal lacing

This is very funky in the nose, very regal. I’m picking up on aromas of jammy red wine, black currant, boysenberry, vinegar, brown bread, very light floral hops, and light brown sugar

There’s more of a tartness to it in taste, but the funk is still prevalent. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting tart cherry, tannic red wine, vinegar, brown bread, lemon zest, and sharp oak. The swallow brings notes of sharp oak, sour boysenberry, tart cherry, brown bread, red wine vinegar, and light green apple

A light medium body pairs with gentle tingling carbonation, resulting in a sharp and zesty beer. Finishes very dry and tart

This is good stuff. The boysenberry isn’t all that evident but it’s good for what it is

Had on top at Dovetail restaurant in Charlestown, MA. Dark maroon in color, fluffy head and lacing. Lots of Brett barnyard funk and ripe berry compote on the nose. Flavors followed - raspberry and blackberry jam, lots of funky sour notes happening throughout. Definitely on the sour side, but really refreshing and jammy/funky.

Pours a pinkish-purple huge fizzy foamy fluffy head that fades semi quickly at first then slows, a little spotty lacing, very clear cranberry chestnut red maroon color

Nose, hello funk! Loads of Brett funk, barnyard funk, some souring bacteria funk perhaps pedio and a little creamy lacto like funk perhaps, mild tart boysenberry and generic berry notes, a little sweet malt

Taste brings plenty of funk again, but starts with the sweet malt, almost syrupy but not quite, and plenty of juicy tart boysenberry, and generic juicy dark berry, little tannic skin notes, then the funk in the background, souring bacteria but not sure what, a little barnyard funk as well, nice Brett funk, a touch of buttery oak but not a ton, finishes dry a touch flemmy but not much

Mouth is med bod, a touch syrupy sweet but mild acidity and not too flemmy, big fizzy carbonation

Overall pretty nice, great souring bacteria and Brett funk esp the nose, but the berry really shines on the taste and seems to blend well, very enjoyable in small doses.

Great fruit expression, nice tannic /barrel notes from the red wine barrels, tart but not sour (like most/all springdale)
