No can date
Pours a frothy fluffy 1 finger off white head with moderate retention, soapy lacing, semi clear auburn to burnt sienna color with loads of sediment
Nose sweet Belgian malt, candi sugar, little caramel toffee and amber
Sugar, nutty toffee, molasses, dark fruits, mild perfumey alcohol and phenol spices
Taste brings sweet malts amber toasted malt with sweet candy sugar, little caramel molasses, toffee again and a touch nutty, biscuity, dark fruits with fig date and little caramelized candy banana, light phenol spices, mild spicy bitter hops, hints at perfumey alcohol, raisin wine, more spicy hops and holiday spices late
Mouth is med to fuller bod, med frothy carb
Overall not bad, feels like itshould have more alcohol but doesn't, not sure if that's good or bad, either way I expected a saison not tripel for a "table beer"

A nice tripel for the holiday season that provides some variety in the sea of winter warmers, "spiced" this and that, and strong stouts. They've added enough spice to make it clear that it is a holiday beer without going overboard, and it is nicely balanced with the malt and yeast characteristics.

L: Slightly darker (on par with Fin du Monde) and slightly hoppier than your standard Belgian tripel; a cloudy reddish/orange/amber with a loose ivory head that quickly dissolves into a thin film.
S: A mild aroma of cloves, banana, and pepper with a mild lemon background.
T: The taste follows the smell with the addition of some wheat, malt, fig, caramel, and dates
F: There is a tingly peppery feel on the tongue and a dry, pleasantly lingering, mild bitter-sweet aftertaste
O: Overall, this is a pretty good effort. Conversation Piece is very approachable. It doesn't have the depth that a brewery dedicated to Belgian styles would give, but in a way, that's a good thing. They've brewed a nice, flavorful beer to drink with your holiday meals without the baggage and intimidation the Tripel label might bring.
