New year, new tunes! Our 2021 Spotify playlist has inspired our Hazy IPA lineup for the year! Up first: Be The Beacon, a 6.5% hazy IPA with Mosaic & Citra hops. Last year we ran a contest on social media for one of our consumers to submit a song for the playlist, and the winning song was Be More Kind by Frank Turner! Be The Beacon takes inspiration from that song.

16oz canned on 01/28/2021. Sample from the brewery.

Pours an orange-y and hazy beer, but not opaque, with a thick, foamy head that laces to the end. Soft, tropical nose with lemon zest. Smooth, firm body, quick carbonation bite upfront but falls a bit flat after that. Fruity, juicy, and a bit marmalde jammy like. Super estery. Tart. Overripe strawberries, underripe mango, grapefruit rind, grassy, and herbal. Bready malts leave a doughy finish that it's overly clean or pleasant.

Not bad, but it's just not hitting it for me.

Murky orange, not as opaque as some NEIPAs.

Not a strong scent. Mostly I pick up on lemony dank smells.

Bright and tart flavor. It is indeed lemony with a hint of spice and dank pine in the background. The spiciness is a bit more pronounced in the finish which is fairly long. It almost tastes boozier than it is.

Feel is light and sudsy. Nice zip from the carbonation that enhances the flavor.

A pretty nice, light NEIPA overall. The bright tartness is particularly nice.
