You know, it's quite odd that Jeff Rosenstock, an artist from California and originally from New York, would think to do a collaboration with a favorite local Mass brewery. I am not complaining at all, and I'm actually delighted by the surprise. Jeff is a beast and this beer stands for a great cause, the Greater Boston Food Bank, so I'm more than happy to support it. I even made it a point to head up to Springdale to pick some up. Let's see what this one is all about
Pours a cloudy orange gold with 3 fingers of soapy white head that slowly fades to a cap and leaves decent lacing
They really nailed the tropical nose on this one without making it too overbearingly sweet. I'm picking up on aromas of honeydew, creamy peach, orange rind, doughy malt, earthy hops, and light papaya. Reminds me a bit of a Tree House NEIPA with its soft aroma
Decidedly more bitter in taste than it is in aroma, but it's balanced wonderfully. On the front end of the sip I'm tasting pithy grapefruit, orange rind, peppery hops, bready malt, and a touch of lemon. The swallow brings notes of overripe cantaloupe, grassy hops, creamy peach, doughy malt, and earthy hops
A light medium body pairs with mild carbonation, resulting in a silky yet crisp beer. Finishes mostly dry with an earthy bitterness to offset the fruit
Bias towards Jeff aside, this is an awesome beer. Not many Springdale NEIPAs have impressed me but this is hitting all the right notes. And honestly if you haven't listened to Jeff Rosenstock yet you're doing yourself a disservice, he's one of the greatest musicians of our time. Go check out his albums like Worry or No Dream, or his old band Bomb The Music Industry and their album Vacation. If anyone checks it out and digs it feel free to message me :)
