Sometimes these basic kettle sours just sound like they’ll hit the spot. That’s how I was feeling when I picked up this raspberry one. I’ve never even heard of this brewery, perhaps this will put them on the map for me. But it’s time to crack it open and find out
Pours a cloudy deep orange with just over a finger of white head that quickly fades to a thin ring and leaves no lacing
The raspberry is surprisingly robust in the nose, sometimes it comes across a bit thin in beer. I’m picking up on aromas of juicy raspberry, blackberry, lemon juice, bready malt, and a touch of apple skin
Again, there’s more heft to this one than usually present in simple raspberry fruited kettle sours. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting sour lemon, juicy raspberry, lactic acid, bready malt, and light strawberry. The swallow brings notes of raspberry yogurt, strawberry sorbet, lemon juice, and apple skin
A medium full body pairs with moderate carbonation, resulting in a surprisingly thick beer for the abv. Finishes a bit sticky but nicely tart
This is a nice easy drinking beer. It’s light in abv but quite full in flavor, though the thick body holds it back a bit
