a forgotten can that may be a bit past its prime, but still has some real refreshment value, i hope to try this in a more favorable context when i am in texas later this month. the beer is blonde, not quite perfectly clear, and with a short white head on it. aroma is uniquely fruity for the style, not deviant or weird, but nuanced and different for what it is. less of the classic german profile, especially in terms of the yeast, and light stone fruit esters coming out that i am not used to in a kolsch type. that said, its still crisp in the finish, nicely carbonated, and drinkable with such a light body. it does have a little bit of residual sweetness that seems to exacerbate the slightly out of place fruitiness, and that does heavy the beer up just a little. traces of white wine, green pear, and minerals at the end. a really minimal grain profile. hardly any hops at all, and just a light drinker overall, not quite as clean as it could be. not totally traditional to my tastes here, but i will source a fresher sample and see how age has impacted it...

It's good. Nothing so crazy to make you go wow, but nothing either to make you pass on another. Good flavor light carbonation and easy drinkability may have you ordering just one more - again.
