Shovel Town’s signature pumpkin ale is brewed with a variety of rich malts, pumpkin and spices. Crisp malt flavor with a slightly sweet pumpkin finish.

And we keep working through the Pumpkin Beers. Yet another new one for me, this time from the local Shovel Town. I'll be honest, despite the fact that they are only about a half hour from me, I have never heard of them. Or so I thought. Apparently I reviewed one of their beers over 2 years ago, but at the time I had no idea they were a local brewery. IIRC the can was a gift from a friend. So, let's see what the local pumpkin game is all about
Pours a slightly cloudy orange gold with 2 fingers of off white head that slowly fades to a thin cap and leaves minimal lacing
The nose definitely leads with spice, but there’s an authentic pumpkin character to it as well. I’m picking up on aromas of nutmeg, baked pumpkin, ginger, dark toast, earthy cinnamon, light raisin, and brown sugar
Once again in taste it’s spice forward, but I can’t really hate on it given the wave of pumpkin that follows. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting earthy cinnamon, caramel, raisin, pumpkin meat, and light nutmeg. The swallow brings notes of nutmeg, baked pumpkin, sweet vanilla, dark bread, earthy cinnamon, caramel, light herbal hops, and raisin
A light medium body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a smooth beer with a decent amount of spice. Finishes mostly dry with a nice fruity twang that helps it down
It’s nothing mind blowing, but it’s certainly good. I’ve had better and worse for the style, but I’ll still happily pound this one

Look – Copper orange color with a bit of a hazy body. Got two fingers of white head
Aroma – The pumpkin is strong with this one and it’s presence is impressive for such a low abv beer. Hints of cinnamon are pungent as well.
Taste – While not as in-your-face as the aroma, the pumpkin is still solid. Again, this is under 5% and it has more of a pop of pumpkin that much bigger beers of the style. As for any familiar cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, etc, I am sorry to say it is lacking in that department.
Mouthfeel – Full-bodied. Doesn’t feel light. Some residual pumpkin flavor lingers on each sip.
Overall – A sessionable pumpkin ale that has a bigger pumpkin presence than most despite its low abv. If they crank up the spices then this could reach the next level.

No can date
Pours a med-small bubbly head with med-lower retention, a bit of soapy lacing, very hazy amber-orange color
nose brings bready and biscuity notes, toasted bready, light fruity notes, hint of spices but thankfully not spice-city, very biscuity toasted bread
Taste brings more biscuity bread, toasted bread and crouton like, some generic fruity flavors and a little earthy gourdy pumpkin note, quite fruity actually, some herbal earthy hop notes, med-lighter bitterness, getting a little vegetal, drier finish med bitterness lingering with a little astringent
Mouth is med bod, a touch syrupy, med-lighter foamy carb, a bit astringent
Overall eh, it's not a great beer all around, not much for pumpkin, thankfully not loaded with spices, but more like a generic malty harvest ale kinda thing, lots of generic fruity notes but not much for actual pumpkin flavor
