Pours a mild foamy bubbly of white smallish head with med lower retention, low lacing. Mostly clear auburn to chestnut color, a bit of legs
Nose starts a bit muted but opens to rich toasted reddish malts, biscuity toffee sweet bread crust, dark red fruits with plum, cherry, cranberry even, some sweet molasses and burnt caramel, little vanilla barrel, hint if scotch whiskey
Taste brings more sweet malts and dark fruits, candy syrup and candied apple, toffee, butterscotch, caramel, touch biscuity, fruits bringing more plum, cherry, fig, light buttery vanilla oak barrel, picking up more scotch character as it warms but on the light side, touch of bitterness, light smooth alcohol, whiskey soaked raisins late, sticky finish
Mouth is fuller bod, almost chewy, med to a tad lighter foamy carb, light warming alcohol
Overall pretty nice, wish I got a bit more from the barrel but still a well done winter sipping by the fire beer
