This place was right off the bus in prime location by the beach and barrier, and as such you'd think they'd really be on point.
Their seating area has a good view of the ocean, but everything is a little shabby and sticky. The server took 20 minutes to come to our table even though there were only 5 other tables occupied. It took another 10 minutes just to take our drink order, at which point we had to force our food order through as well. Our beers took 10 more minutes to arrive, and then the food came out at exactly the same time. Needless to say, service is terrible. Although, it must be said, (and I thought this would be a unique experience in Hawaii), but it seems it doesn't necessarily get drastically better on any of the 3 islands we visited. Whether at bars, casual, or fine dining restaurants, the attitude and inattentiveness we experienced everywhere was a bit unexpectedly odd for a state and population having a reputation of being so "happy." I'm starting to think that's just promotional fluff.
In any case, the food saves this place from being a complete pass, as it was unique, with local ingredients, and quite tasty. Unfortunately the kitchen is being knee-capped by front of house so I don't imagine this place being able to stay in business at such a prime location.
The one beer of their own they had on draft, the Pali Uli, seriously seemed like they tapped an AAL through bad lines and took credit for it. It really wasn't very good or noteworthy at all, but luckily they have mostly guest taps so you can choose from other, higher quality local selections.
